On the jaw-dropping slate cliff of Temal, a beautiful and significant cave lies, where Guru Rinpoche meditated and practiced Vajrakilaya in the form of Dyiki Sechen. As there was a problem in the surrounding communities, Guru Rinpoche slayed the demon and established peace, along created water with his Vajra dagger.

On the third week of November 2025, we had guests from Bhutan, who were anxious to explore the Guru Rinpoche meditation caves as a part of their pilgrimage trip. They contacted us at 8:00 am, and we managed their departure at 9 am to the Maratika Cave.

The first night they spent at Halesi Maratika. They explored Upper and Lower Maratika Cave, along with Maha Manjushree Cave. They had a wonderful time there, experiencing the spirituality of Buddhism. After Maratika, they drove back and drove further to the Yarinak Cave- Temal.

Transportation to Yarinak Cave

A 4WD Jeep is required (as per the latest update) because the road condition is not so nice for the low ground clearance vehicles.

We suggest the best itinerary for you, however, it depends on your budget and available days.

Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu sightseeing. (Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and explore local market)

Day 02: Asura and Yangleso Cave Pharping.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Yarinak Cave and drive further to Mulkot. Overnight at Hotel Taj

Day 04: Drive Mulkot to Maratika Cave. Explore around. Overnight at Dzambala Resort.

Day 05: Detailed exploration. (Upper Maratika Cave, Lower Maratika Cave, Manju Shree Cave, Tuwachung Hill, etc). Overnight at Holesung Resort.

Day 06: Maratika to Kathmandu drive back.

Day 07: Kathmandu-Chumik Changchup and drive back.

Accommodation at Yarinak

There's no proper accommodation at Yarinak, especially for tourists. So, we usually organize the tour on a day tour basis. For example, if you are going to Yarinak and Maratika Cave, first visit the cave and drive to Maratika. Or drive Kathmandu to the Yarinak cave and drive back to Kathmandu.
