Often hiking in Nepal is designed for physically fit hikers. Does it mean that there is no place for the differently able people who use wheelchairs? Nepal Kameleon Holidays has got your answer. Now, you should not give up your wheelchair hiking passion in Nepal. You're welcome, we have designed a special wheelchair hiking around Kathmandu by measuring the safety plans. But, it may be for a short time.

    The Wheelchair Hiking Trail

Wheelchair hiking in Kathmandu begins with a 4WD drive to Nagarkot, which is a famous point to explore the sunrise view over the Himalayas. They have not made it a wheelchair-accessible way to go there from the car stands. So, we support you to reach there. Reaching the viewpoint, you can sit in the wheelchair and enjoy the view.

After a short Coffee/Tea time or having something, drive to Telkot and hike for a while. There are some specific parts, where you will be able to do a wheelchair hike with help. The shade of pine woods and impressive route. A short break with some fresh fruits refuel your energy. Arriving at the Changu Narayan Temple, enjoy the wheelchair ride to the temple from the bottom. Please note that the trail is steep, so a minimum of 2 support is mandatory. Our Wheelchair trip to the temple was the first record since the site was discovered in the 5th century (the date was 30 April 2024). Completing the trip, back to the car park point and drive back to Kathmandu.

Wheelchair Day Hike in Kathmandu Valley is a trip designed only by the Nepal Kameleon Holidays up to the time we have updated this event. If you want to enjoy this uniquely designed day trip, please, do not hesitate to contact us. WhatsApp: +977 9851159455

    Itinerary

Enjoy the wheelchair day hike near Kathmandu.

Pick up from the hotel in Kathmandu. If it's near Thamel, it takes about 1.5 hours to drive to Nagarkot. First, enjoy the climb to Nagarkot viewpoint. Then drive down to Telkot, from where we drive a bit further and enjoy a short hike under the shed of the treeline. Then drive to the UNESCO-listed world heritage site, Changu Narayan Temple. A bit tough, but you can do a wheelchair hike there to the temple. Explore the 5th-century monument and drive back to Kathmandu.

If the provided schedule isn't suitable for you, we are able to create personalized travel arrangements according to your preferences and requirements.

      Nagarkot Wheelchair Accessible Hike

Nepal Kameleon Holidays were an amazing experience for us during our trip to Nepal. They were able to create customized itineraries for us, much of which centered around the fact that one of our family members was travelling in a wheelchair and needed accommodations. Bhanu in particular was creative, responsive, and led a very professional program for us that was the perfect mix of local knowledge, relaxed schedules that allowed us to improvise, and most important — clear and prompt communication before, during and after each experience. Highly recommended!
