Ranikot Balthali Namobuddha Hiking is a perfect hiking package in this case.     Hiking to the hilltop of Ranikot, the hike lets you explore the famous sage's shelter, aka Pilot Baba Aashram at Gundu, above Bhaktapur. Climbing to Ranikot, you will get an opportunity to witness the typical ethnic lifestyles, which are at the juncture of traditional lifestyle to modernism.     The hike continues to the ancient cultural site of Panauti. It is one of the best spiritual sites in Nepal. The hike proceeds furthermore to Khopasi (option: take a motor ride for 15 minutes). Crossing the suspension bridge and walking to Balthali village offers you an incredible memory. The picturesque setting of the Balthali village welcomes you to explore around. As a side trip, we can hike to the Ladkeshor Mahadev or its surroundings. Resort and Home Stay Accommodations are available.

    Ranikot Balthali Namobuddha Hike concludes at the famous Buddhist site- Namobuddha Monastery. It is all the way about a 4-hour hike from Balthali. The Tamang ethnic communities located on the terraced hillside are amazing. Namobuddha is an excellent Himalayan viewpoint and also offers a valley view. After the hike, drive back to Kathmandu.

    Best time for the Hike

    Spring

    Spring is great and offers wonderful weather. The season begins from March to April and continues until May. Days are warmer and amazing views can be expected in the spring season. 

    Autumn

    Autumn is the main festival time when people celebrate prime festivals like Teej, Dashain, and Tihar. Talking about the weather, it becomes fantastic and offers a great view of the Himalayas, valley, green hills, and the entire surroundings. If you would like to explore the real aura of nature and experience local culture and festivals, autumn is the best season for you. 

    Winter

    Winter is amazing to walk and explore. It becomes warm during the day, so it is wonderful to warm your body with a hike and exploration around. 

    Summer

    Summer is great to walk, however, as it is also a monsoon season in Nepal, so it usually rains in June July August. Despite the rain, it is still great to walk around the Kathmandu hill ridge than going to the Himalayas. 

    Hiking Itinerary Customization

    Ranikot Balthali Namobuddha Hike can be customized and the walking days can be shortened if you are limited with time.

    Accommodation facilities are available throughout the trekking trail. However, if you would like to stay in a monastery, it is possible in Namobuddha. It will be a great time to experience spirituality and experience monastic life.

    Itinerary

    • Day 01

      Drive to Suryabinayak Bhaktapur, hike to Ranikot village via Pilot Baba Aashram.

      After breakfast, drive to Bhaktapur Suryabinayak temple. Although the trail is through the pitch road, the area is tranquil and serene. You get to see the adventure zipline spot at Pilot Baba, below Ranikot Hill. A gradual walk leads you all the way to the Ranikot Hill viewpoint. The dramatic view of Bhaktapur can be seen with light in the nighttime. Overnight at the resort. 

    • Day 02

      Hike to Panauti from Ranikot, hike further to Balthali.

      Good morning Ranikot. It is amazing to hike to the Ranikot viewpoint for the wonderful sunrise view over the Himalayas. Then, have breakfast and hike through a beautiful route. Panauti is a spiritual town with a heritage walk route. For a while, we walk through the pitch road and reach Khopasi. From there, it's another 40-minute hike to Balthali, crossing a couple of suspension bridges. 

    • Day 03

      Hike from Balthali to Namobuddha and drive back to Kathmandu

      From Balthali village, first, you hike down to the Roshi Khola and all the way to Namobuddha monastery through the uphill countryside route. On the way, you will pass through the marijuana field. At the top of the hill, lies the Namobuddha Monastery, which is one of the biggest and significant monasteries in Nepal. Exploring the monastery, drive back to Kathmandu, which is a 1.5-hour drive. Then transfer to the hotel.
