    Sagun ThapaJan 28th 2026

Welcome to Lapchi Kang Milarepa Cave, where the musical lyrics of Saint Milarepa resonate on the mysterious cliffs. The entire surroundings of Lapchi are deeply rooted in the spiritual delights.

Exploration of Lapchi Kang village and meditation caves of Milarepa is going into the spiritual delights of the Kagyu sect of Buddhism.

Best Time to Visit the Lapchi Kang Milarepa Cave

In Nepal, there are mainly two wonderful seasons, especially for trekking activities in the Himalayas. The first season is spring, starting from March-April and ending in May. Then it starts the rainy season. Autumn is another perfect time to explore Lapchi Kang and Milarepa Meditation Caves. The season starts from September to October and ends in November.

Can I trek in December and January to Lapchi?

Yes.  Although we have specified two main seasons for the trekking adventure to Lapchi Kang Milarepa Cave, it is still possible to trek in December and January. It may become a bit tough to hike to the Tibetan border, but the sites near Lapchi Kang and the meditation caves of Saint Milarepa.

    Transportation for Lapchi Kang- Dolakha

We provide a jeep/bus depending on the number of travelers.

Note: the road is mixed up- black top and off-road section. So, be prepared for the adventure experience.

    Accommodation Points in the Tour

    Lamabagar

Lamabagar is a wonderful place for an overnight stay. It is about a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu to Lamabagar. It is a scenic point surrounded by jaw-dropping cliffs and waterfalls. Some people travel to Lamabagar, spend the night there, and come back. The damsite is another prime attraction in the village. Lamabagar has basic accommodation (please do not seek luxury here) with a good meal.

    Lumnang

Lumnang is 15 km from Lamabagar, which is reached via an off-road section. Lumnang has a couple of homestays for accommodation, which allow a basic space to comfort your body.

Note: Lumnang is available for accommodation only in winter because the local people have a summer settlement, which is Lapchi. According to the local people, they move to Lapchi in summer and come to Lumnang in winter.

    Lapchi

Lapchi is the name of the village, which is also the Upper settlement of Lumnang. The accommodation in Lapchi is in the monastery, which I would say is much more comfortable. As the rooms are built with wood, it's warm, and you will get enough blankets.
