Upper Mustang Lomanthang with Jomsom Muktinath Jeep Tour is an epic adventure jeep tour in Nepal for the adventure and nature lovers. It connects Annapurna and Mustang region in the North-Western part of Nepal. Upper Mustang region is a restricted region and Lomanthang is its capital. It is a cultural paradise with medieval civilizations, monasteries, chhortens and caves. Muktinath is located in the lower Mustang region, which is a globally renowned Hindu pilgrimage destination.

The tour begins from Kathmandu or if you have book this tour from Pokhara, it begins from Pokhara and takes you through the picturesque highway. A bit challenging road begins from Beni and it passes via Tatopani (where natural hot spring is found) and Rupse waterfalls (more than 300 meters). Driving through the deepest gorge of the world- the Kali Gandaki gorge, you enter into the Mustang region. Ther arid landscape of the Mustang region is equally fascinated by the Himalayan views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. Exploring the apple orchards of Tukuche and Marpha, you will enjoy the dramatic scenery of Jomsom. The magnificent view of Kagbeni will definitely allures you.

The journey to the restricted region begins once you begin to drive from Kagbeni. It is a different world with medieval civilizations, culture, monasteries and chhortens. Lomanthang is its capital, which is a stone walled town. The monasteries around are culturally vibrant, belonging to the Tibetan Buddhist devotees. If you are there at the festival time, you can enjoy the Tiji festival in Lomanthang.

While returning, the tour takes you to the Muktinath temple, which is a globally renowned Hindu pilgrimage destination. It is located at the base of the Annapurna Himalayas, where you will meet the trekkers on the route of Annapurna Circuit Trek.

  • Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. (6-7 hours).
  • Day 02: Drive from Pokhara to Jomsom (8-9 hours).
  • Day 03: Drive from Jomsom to Lomanthang (Upper Mustang via Kagbeni) (8-9 hours).
  • Day 04: Exploration Day.
  • Day 05: Drive back from Lomanthang to Kagbeni.
  • Day 06: Drive from Kagbeni to Muktinath, drive back to Lete.
  • Day 07: Drive back to Pokhara.
  • Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu.

Trip Note

Note: The trip looks  a bit expensive, which is because of the paper works. Three types of paper works are needed for the trip. Restricted Area Entry Permit (500 USD/Person), Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit and TIMS card are necessary.
