Famous Lakes of Nepal

According to the record, there are more than 5000 Lakes in Nepal. They are small lakes in the lowland region of Nepal, to the high Himalayan alpine Lakes. Some Lakes are spiritually significant, and some are naturally spectacular. Some Lakes are in the prime location of the cities, for which, they get millions of visitors for their holiday fun activities. The longest Lake of Nepal is Rara Lake, and the deepest Lake is Shey Phoksundo Lake of Dolpo. Lake Gosaikunda is the sacred Lake of Nepal.

Rara Lake

• Largest natural Lake of Nepal
• Located in the Mugu district at an elevation of 2990 meters- Rara National Park
• Remote part of Nepal, but exceptional 

Tilicho Lake

• A high altitude Lake in Nepal at an altitude of 4919 meters above sea level
• Located in the Manang district- Annapurna circuit trekking route
• A bit tough route to reach with trek
• Remains frozen in winter

Gosaikunda Lake

• Located at an altitude of 4380 meters above sea level
• Surrounded by the boundary of the Langtang National Park-rocky environment

Phewa Lake

• The most famous lake in Nepal, as it is located at the central point of Pokhara

Shey Phoksundo Lake

• Located in the Dolpo region
