Good news for travelers who are limited with the time to hike/trek to Tilicho Lake, but still want to explore the Lake. Jomsom to Tilicho Jeep Tour will be available after a year as the road construction from Thini to Tilicho base camp is being preceded. Right now, the only way to reach Tilicho Lake is to hike from the Manang-Khangsar-Tilicho base camp and finally the exploration of Tilicho Lake. The route is too adventurous. However, after a year, travelers can enjoy the jeep ride to the Tilicho base camp from Mustang (Jomsom) will avoid the several days walk and the risk of snow leopard.
A 7 km motor road from Thini of Mustang has already been constructed. The place is called Pipithang, where the road has touched. The total distance from Jomsom to the Tilicho base camp is just 15km. A suspension bridge will be set at the Tachihyang stream.
The local government has now been in action to promote tourism from Mustang to reach Tilicho Lake by Jeep and back. It will save the time of travelers and they don't have to trek all the way.
If the road will be finished with the construction, then the travelers will drive up to Namakhu in a couple of hours, which is the Tilicho Lake base camp, and hike to the Lake for 2-3 hours. The Mesokanto La Pass and Timchi of Mustang will be much more delightful than the Thorong La Pass, the locals believe.
Itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Day 02: Drive from Pokhara to Jomsom.
Day 03: Drive from Jomsom to Muktinath via Kagbeni, drive back to Thini, and Explore Dhumba Lake.
Day 04 & 05: Drive to the Tilicho Lake Base Camp- (Namakhu) and hike to the Lake, back to Marpha.
Day 06: Drive back to Pokhara.
Day 07: Drive back to Kathmandu.
