Good news for the travelers. The motor road has been extended from Mustang to Dolpo and it has been officially linked. Although it may take a while to explore the major highlights by Jeep via Mustang, the reality is that Chharka of Dolpo district is now accessible by road. So, Dolpo and Shey Phokdundo Lake of it is not so far to explore for travelers without a foothill journey.
Route of Mustang Dolpo Road Trip
You drive by 4WD Jeep via Pokhara-Beni-Marpha and Jomsom. From Jomsom, you drive towards Kagbeni, but somewhere in the middle, there is a bridge over the Kali Gandaki River, and reach the village, known as Phallyak. This beautiful village can be seen even while traveling to Kagbeni or Muktinath.

Well, the route is diverted from the main Mustang Highway. You will be traveling through the nomadic land out of nowhere. It’s more of an adventure, but the landscape is mind-blowing. The actual isolated route begins from Dolpo Sangda Trijunction-Dargajong village. The road is so winding and goes through the alpine territory of the Himalayan region.

By now, Chharka of Mustang has been linked by road. But, the extension is going on and the beautiful Dolpo region will be accessible by jeep. Waragung Muktichhetra (Phallyak) to Chharka is about 57 kilometers by road. The landscape is geographically isolated and quite a few times, they reach over 4000 meters above sea level. These isolated lands are used for the Yak grazing. Sangta is the last human settlement that you reach in Mustang and the official border of Dolpo starts.
The road from there is beautiful and follows the River. Chharka is a beautiful village, resided by the Riverside. It is in the Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing and trip preparation. (permit work of Dolpo).
Day 03: Fly to Pokhara, drive to Marpha.
Day 04: Marpha-Jomsom-Muktinath and drive back to Kagbeni.
Day 05: Drive Kagbeni to Suksamba and hike to Bherol (Still Mustang)- 4 hours hike.
Day 06: .....Welcome to Dolpo. Again Jeep tour begins.

Best Time for the Mustang Dolpo Jeep Tour
As the geographical structure is complex and the landscape is alpine terrain, it’s better to travel in April-May and June along with mid-September –October-November.
