Home of Tibetan Buddhist Devotees and Culture

Everest region is located close to the Tibetan border region, but the only way to reach there is to cross over the tallest peak of the world, which is almost impossible for the common people. Sherpa people populate the Khumbu region (upper part of Everest), who are heavily influenced by the Tibetan Buddhist culture and lifestyles. The monasteries, chhortens and mani walls on the trekking trails are the spiritual epitome of the Buddhism. Patrick Czifra, who did the 3 passes trek in Everest (2019) says, "I am heavily impressed by the scenery of the Himalayas and landscape, but the most powerful impression I got is while touring around the monasteries, experiencing the hospitality of the Sherpa people and their spiritual lifestyles. So, Everest is not only the Himalayas, there's a lot to explore and experience".

A bit difficult to reach

The weather is unpredictable in the lower part of the Everest, where the Lukla airport is located and it is a gateway of the Everest. It becomes challenge sometimes with the issues of flight delay and cancellation. To deal it, you must have one or a couple of extra days in advance so that you will not miss some important schedule.

On the other hand, Lukla flight is quite adventurous. If you want to avoid this flight, you have another route from Phaplu, which is about 9 hour jeep drive from Kathmandu. Read more: EBC Trek Avoiding Lukla Flight
